Outpatient Care

Schedule a time for your provider 24 hours a day at blueskyhealth.org.  No online access?  A friend with access can do it for you--it only takes a minute or two.  Otherwise call us at 906-483-2200 and your provider will schedule it for you as soon as they are free--typically 90 minutes or less.  You'll be able to choose whether you want the issue handled by office, phone, or email.  Remember most insurances and Medicare require an office visit if you want them to cover the cost.

Hospital Care

Use either Portage Health or Aspirus Keweenaw.  Dr. Jeff Huotari and his partners on the Hospitalist service will care for you at Portage Health. The on-call physician will care for you at Aspirus Keweenaw. At either hospital, all care is coordinated directly with BlueSky Health, and records are received as needed back and forth.

After hours care

If it's an emergency, call 911 or go straight to the emergency department of your choice at Portage Health or Asprius Keweenaw.  We do not handle emergencies.  For non-emergent issues, call the office at 906-483-2200 and you will be forwarded to the covering diagnostic provider who will talk with you by phone and determine the next step.

Labs/Xrays/Other studies

We provide a rapid strep test and urinalysis if needed. Portage Health or Aspirus Keweenaw provide all other labs. All results are immediately available to us when complete. You will be billed directly by the institution performing the study.

Immunizations

All vaccinations are administered for us by the Western Upper Peninsula Department of Health. To receive a vaccine please call 906-482-7382 to schedule an appointment.  They will submit a bill to insurance if desired.  Here are driving directions

Insurances accepted

Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, Cigna, Humana, Medicaid (through UPHP only and not currently accepting new patients), Medicare.  If you have an insurance not listed here, please call and we may still be able to help you.

Payment

Patient portion is due at time of service.  This means if you are self-pay, the entire amount is due.  If you use insurance, your copay is due.  If you do not to pay, your status as a BlueSky Health patient status ends.  You will receive 30 more days of essential care only, allowing you time to establish care with another physician.

Other

Each provider reserves the right to only practice care that they are professionally and ethically comfortable with.
